Sun Devil fans will have a new food to snack on during home football games this year.
Hungry football fans will be able to grab a giant slice of Venezia’s Pizzeria’s cheese and pepperoni pies at Arizona State University sporting events, starting at the Thursday, Aug. 29 football home opener.
The family-owned pizzeria got some national shine when it was featured on AMC’s critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad. In one scene, the main character Walter White chucks a full pizza onto a roof. In another, Jesse Pinkman orders a party-size Venezia’s pie to feed shady partygoers at his house.
Now the famous pizza will be available at ASU sporting events including softball games at Alberta B. Farrington Softball Stadium, baseball games at Phoenix Municipal Stadium and gymnastic competitions and volleyball matches at Wells Fargo Arena.
Venezia’s will be the only pizza for sale at these events.
Venezia’s involvement with ASU doesn’t stop there. As an official partner of Sun Devil Athletics, Venezia’s Pizzeria will post special Sun Devil discounts on its social media throughout the year.
“As an Arizona State University alum, with a restaurant just a few minutes from campus, it is especially meaningful to be able to show our support for ASU with this partnership,” Domenick Montanile, owner and president of Venezia’s Pizzeria, said in a press release.
What is Venezia’s Pizzeria?
Venezia’s Pizzeria has offered New York-style pizza in Arizona for more than 20 years. The family-owned restaurant first opened in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, in 1978. Twenty years later, the family opened the first Arizona location in Tempe, and since then, the concept has expanded to include five locations throughout the Valley.
The pizzeria made its way onto the silver screen when actor Bryan Cranston threw the pizza onto the roof of a house in the episode “Caballo sin Nombre” of “Breaking Bad” season three.
Venezia’s Pizzeria serves classic pizzas as well as offerings for all kinds of dietary needs, such as low-carb cauliflower crust pizza and gluten-free pizza. Diners can also order wings, salads, sandwiches, pasta and Zero Crust Pizza Bowls, which include pizza toppings, sauce and cheese without the dough.
Venezia’s Pizzeria is committed to using fresh ingredients in its cooking, even going as far as to use tomatoes from Italy’s San Marzano region in its homemade marinara sauce.
