AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – Workers are cranking out pizzas around the clock today at Franco’s.
“We’ll be at our maximum around 5 o’clock this afternoon, we’ll be putting out probably about 100 pizzas an hour just continuous at every location,” said Walter Smietana, Franco’s Pizza Marketing Director.
Smietana says New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest days of the year for pizza sales.
“A lot of people have parties at home, they work all day today happens to be a Monday. So people have something they don’t want to make cause they’re going to go out and do something else,” said Smietana.
Workers are able to get pizzas out the door fast with this oven.
“About 7 minutes to go throughout the oven it doesn’t take much time so what varies our time for pickup and stuff is the amount of orders we get,” said Jonesha Calhoun, Franco’s Pizza Assistant Manager.
Once the new year kicks off employees will get right to work preparing for Super bowl Sunday which is the busiest day of the year here at Franco’s.
“There’s nothing like the Super bowl because it’s on Sunday and ever since the Bills joined that whole Super Bowl thing pizza in Buffalo went nuts,” said Smietana.
The new year 2019 is also a milestone year for Franco’s, the pizzeria is celebrating 40 years in business
“In August of 1979 Franco started his location along with his brother Mario and the two of them worked in the Buffalo area the entire time and eventually got 5 locations,” said Smietana.
